breezy , bohemienne
too many drugs dropped into my mouth
looking for something new
but I end up drinking
ignore the warnings on the shore
I'll take my chance, run into danger
I wanna taste life more and more
but you need a little risk
for the perfect mixture

what are some of your likes and hobbies? what do you enjoy in life? --
I love da kine life. Just living. I don't let anything, nor anyone, bring this girl (points to self) down. (laughs) then again, my heart hasn't broken before. even the strongest people I know have felt pain, and that really worries me. It scares me from commitment.
Oh, I got a little off topic, yeah? i love the feeling i get when i sit on my surfboard on the north shore, watching for the perfect wave to ride. i love that feeling of anticipation as i listen to the ocean. that's the second best feeling in the world. and the first? popping up on my surfboard and riding the wave. I am addicted to the ocean and try not to go more than a few days without interacting with it.
oh, and ey. you ever gone surfing on mushrooms? never do that, bruddah. i did once, an' I felt so disoriented and embarrassed. Doing almost anything else, like wandering through the sherwood forest, is definitely a recommended experience with magic mushrooms.
Something else about me, I am very passionate politically. I keep up to date with what is going on around this island, and the world. My parents have raised me to be the change I wan' t'see. I've stood beside them before when they opposed the former mayor building a walmart on the island. The support from our fellow islanders worked, and ehu remains corporation free. I am an activist. I live to protest, chyee? You feel me, mon?
And, i love the stars. i love climbing on top of kennedy's at night and looking at the stars. it may be weird, but that's my favorite place to stargaze. there are barely any clouds in that part of town and the faded sound of the music they play in the background is kind of enchanting. I love watching dem drunkards in the parking lot when kennedy's closes, too. Ooooo-eeee, that's some of da best kine free entertainment on the 'aina, the island.
i also love to go on adventures. random ones, planned ones, whatever. even though i've spent my entire life exploring this island, i neva get bored of the lush green forests and the sparkling blue ocean. i am mother nature's child, brah. she raised me the best she could, and now i am doing everything i can to give back to her.
and most importantly, something near and dear to my heart is yoga, and living a yogic life. being in touch with myself is really my number one passion. I've been doing yoga since I was five, sort of. If you count tying myself up wid' some rope to a pole, pushing it down below my waist, and practicing my downward dog "doing yoga." That's da kine I did, yeah? Real professional.
what are some of your dislikes? are there any kinds of people you hate? is there anything that you would never do, nor eat? --
i really don't like them stuck up haoles. the rich, snobby folk who come to the island thinking they're all that, buying a mansion that they'll only spend two months out of the year in, if that. i hate the people who don't treat the 'aina with respect. this is everyone's land, but everyone must respect it. if humans keep thrashing the island, trampling it with litter, it will soon become a landfill. the people with a trash problem in honolulu will think that if the locals can't even keep this island clean, why should they?
i hate zoos. corporations. oil. big cars. well, big cars are sort of bittersweet. once i absolutely refused to drive to green sands on the big island because i could hike it. it turns out, two and a half miles of volcanic rock isn't a walk in the park, brah! i ended up bumming from this real chill bruddah a ride back to my car at the end of the day. i couldn't make dat kine trip twice! ehu island has some of those wonderful locations, where you can't really reach it without four-wheel drive, or going through a brutal hike. so, da kine big cars are okay... sometimes.
and i have to admit, i am kind of a racist. my parents did their best to teach me to love everyone, but i can't help but hate da kine haoles without anything else in their blood. i mean, at first, at least. sometimes, i will grow to love them, but it's always a rocky start. i just don't trust them! there are a lot of da kine caucasian crooks out there, who litter my land and abuse the people.
what is your favorite quote? how does it relate to your life? --
"Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand."
i may not have attended bouscher academy, but i sure do have a wild imagination. maybe it's all the magic mushrooms i've eaten. i pride myself in what i've been taught, but i take more pride in the illusions, and the ideas, i can create for myself. i am a creative person who enjoys thinking of new ways to explore the island, protest, and even surf. haha... oh, chyee. Oh, and I will probably make da best kine hopskotches you've ever seen, brah!
what are some of your secrets, aspirations, and quirks? --
my biggest secret is, i guess, the discrimination i hold against haoles. even with my close friends, i see myself as better than they are because i have the blood of the ancestors of this island, and they do not. i can't help but look down on them for not being as connected with the 'aina as i am.
an aspiration of mine is to start some kind of changing, radical non-profit organization on the island. first, i'd like to acquire the idea, then, the funds to do so. maybe i'll be able to find some supporters, as well.
something quirky about me is i tend to not like the texture of tomatoes, but i adore the taste. so i squeeze tomato juice on my sandwiches. don't tell anyone!
what are five random facts you'd like the world to know about you? --
1) my family is the number one supplier of papayas and star apples on the island. 2) i went on pointe when i was ten, but quit ballet when i was sixteen. 3) i had the opportunity to attend bouscher academy, but wanted to teach yoga full-time at kapuna kapu instead. the others at kapuna kapu are pretty much my family. 4) i've never left the islands of hawai'i. 5) i have stand up paddleboarded from maui to lanai before.
how long have you, and your family/ancestors, been on ehu island? how did you get where you are today? --
my father is puerto-rican. my mother is a quarter hawaiian, a quarter filipino, and half pourtugese. my mother's side of the family has been here for generations and generations. my father came to ehu island forty years ago to become a coffee farmer. now, they own their own plantation, and produce papayas, coffee, and macadamia nuts.
i was born just five miles away from where we are right now, on april twentieth, the best day on earth. speaking of which, marijuana was never exactly hidden in my house, but definitely kept out of my reach growing up. my parents are very pro-legalization and quite embarrassingly open about it. at least, i hated how open they were about it growing up.
they introduced me to boogie boarding at an early age. i started copying my older brothers riding the waves on the shore when i was about eight years old. it became a passion for me very quickly. i would tag along with them whenever they would head to the beach after school and on weekends. soon, they taught me to surf. since then, i've been in love, going to the beach during most of my spare time. i want to become a professional one day, but at the same time, i never want to leave these islands. i know it's naive of me not to want to see the world, but i have everything i need right where i am.
and, we saved the best for last: why do you belong on this reality tv show? -- i belong on this reality tv show because i am an interesting wahine who leads a really adventurous life. those who wished they lived in the forest, much similarly to the life i lead, would follow me all the time. the life on the islands is a unique one that sadly not many experience, and they can live vicariously through me.
