the island of ehu was discovered by new england missionaries in the year 1821. from that day forward, the foreign caucasians began to take over the island, introducing christianity and the american lifestyle to these native hawaiians. ehu is known to the other islands as "the haole island." since its caucasian takeover in 1821, the native hawaiians have either died out or moved away. though there are still some who claim hawaiian heritage, and make it their life's mission to keep the hawaiian heritage on the island, ehu is predominantly caucasian.
in the 1960's, mushroom farmers migrated to ehu upon finding out its perfect location for the growth of mushrooms. since then, it has struck bohemians and the organic type to make the move to ehu.
popular sports and activities on the island are rowing, surfing, camping, hashing (ask an islander what that is and they will enthusiastically ask you to join them), sailing, scuba diving, ultimate frisbee, and boogie boarding. tourists never get bored here with the surplus of outdoor activities for people of almost any age.
formerly, the locals felt resentment towards the haoles (the white people). "they are on my island," they would growl amongst each other. though some still hold that charming opinion, the immigration of the bohemians brought a more peaceful opinion: "this island belongs to everyone."
